Text 30 Sep An Entrepreneurial Spirit

I’ve never considered myself the type to go out and start my own business. There can be so much risk involved. But, that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it:

For the past little while, I’ve been thinking about what it would be like if I opened up my own café. I’ve even got Ray thinking about it, haha. I guess I kind of started thinking about it when Ray introduced me to this tea house in Richmond (of all places). The place is called ‘Salle de Thé (Tea Room). It’s in a plaza, right along the multitudes of bubble tea shops on Alexandra Road. They have a variety of specialty teas; ranging from fruit infused teas to rooibos teas and rose teas. There’s several that I haven’t had a chance to try, yet. The Tea Room also serves homemade cheesecakes and a couple of other small desserts. I never thought I’d enjoy red bean cheesecake, but it’s actually really good! The decor is clean and simple, but feels cozy.

Anyways, I fell in love with this place. Ray and I try to go there once a month. Unfortunately, the past several times we’ve visited, it’s been closed. They have very intermittent business hours. This prompted me to think about what it would be like to open my own tea house. My imagination started to run wild. I know that Mel loves her tea, so I thought: business partner! Haha. As soon as I thought of Mel, I thought of how several of my friends could be involved in this little project. Mel and I could do the tea/desserts, Robert would do the light snacks/meals, Ray and Adrian would be in charge of decor, everyone would collaborate to brand/market the tea house…and that’s about as much as I have so far. Oh, if only… What do you think?
