Text 12 Jan Why you don’t talk to people on the bus…

My classmate told me about something that happened to her friend last summer:

Her friend’s parents have a pet golden retriever and he was quite geriatric. Her parents were going on an extended trip so they asked her to watch the dog while they were away. They mentioned that since the dog is so old, there’s a chance he might pass away while they’re on their trip. If that were to happen they instructed their daughter to bring the dog to the vet.

Unfortunately, the dog did indeed pass away while the girl’s parents were gone. At the time the girl didn’t have a car… so she decided to put the dog into a duffle bag…. and take the bus to the vet’s office. Now, a golden retriever’s not exactly a small dog. Putting it into a duffle bag??? I can’t imagine what this girl was thinking; transporting a dead dog like that.

So, there she is, sitting on the bus and carrying a duffle bag with a big, dead dog inside of it. Pretty disturbing, eh? Oh, it gets better…

On the bus, a homeless man sitting next to the girl starts chatting her up, asking what she is doing with such a big bag. Not wanting to expose the truth to everyone sitting around her, she decided to tell the man that she’s moving; carrying all her valuable possessions with her in the bag.

When the girl gets off at her stop, the homeless man gets off as well, walking behind her. Then all of a sudden, the man runs up to the girl. He punches her in the head, grabs the duffle bag and BOOKS IT. I guess he took an interest in all that talk about carrying valuable possessions with her.

I feel bad for the dog, but I couldn’t help but laugh either. I don’t know who was more shocked: the girl, or the homeless guy when he finally opened that bag up.

I wonder what she told her parents.
