Text 17 Jan Sticky fingers

Today at work, I caught a kid trying to steal a video game. He couldn’t have been more than 13 or 14-years-old. But there he was, crouched down in the PS3 aisle, stuffing a game into his oversized hoodie.

I went up to him and asked if I could help him with something. All he managed to get out was, “uh..no…”, while chewing on his bag of candy. Maybe he didn’t think he was going to get caught; he sure tried to act nonchalantly about it. After a short silence, I asked him to give back the game that was in his shirt. I think he pretended to misunderstand what I said, because he asked me if I wanted him to give me his bag of candy. Right…I wanted his bag of Werther’s. After saying no, I asked him, again, to give the game back. More silence. Finally, he pulled the game out from inside his shirt and tossed it onto a shelf. He then grabbed his friend and made a beeline to the exit.

I always hear about people stealing at my store, but this was the first time I’ve seen it happen. *sigh*
